You’ve tried the facials. You’ve done the peels, maybe a round or two of lighter laser treatments, and you liked the glow. But the deep lines around your mouth are still there, and so are the acne scars you’ve had for years. At some point, surface treatments stopped making a noticeable difference, and you need something that reaches deeper. At VITRA Aesthetics Clinic, we offer Contour TRL™, Sciton’s Tunable Resurfacing Laser, for patients ready for a real reset.

Contour TRL comes from Sciton, the same company behind the HALO and MOXI® & BBL® HERO™ treatments our patients already love. It’s our most powerful laser skin resurfacing option, allowing our providers to set the depth to match your skin and your goals.

How Contour TRL™ Resurfaces Skin From the Surface Down

Contour TRL™ is an ablative erbium laser. It removes damaged skin layer by layer across the full treatment area, so your body replaces it with fresh, smoother skin. The laser also delivers controlled heat into the deeper layers, which kicks your collagen production into gear for months after your treatment.

The “tunable” part is what makes it different. Our aesthetic providers can adjust how deep the laser goes and how much heat it delivers, each on its own setting. The lighter setting treats texture, tone, and fine lines with a shorter recovery. The deeper setting goes after stubborn wrinkles and scarring that nothing else has touched. You and your provider decide together where you land.

A computer-guided scanner moves the laser beam across your skin in an even pattern. That means consistent coverage from your forehead to your jawline, with no patchy spots or uneven edges.

What Can Contour TRL™ Do For You?

Contour TRL™ targets the deeper signs of aging and damage that lighter treatments can soften but can’t fully correct. We use it for:

  • Deep wrinkles around the mouth, eyes, and forehead
  • Acne scars, including rolling and boxcar scarring
  • Enlarged pores
  • Surgical scars and other textural scarring
  • Sun spots, age spots, and brown spots
  • Hyperpigmentation and discoloration that leave your tone uneven
  • Rough, crepey, or uneven skin texture
  • Dullness and overall skin quality that has aged faster than you have

Most patients see the result they want in one to three treatments, depending on how deep the laser needs to go and what it’s targeting. For many people, deep resurfacing can also help delay the point where they’d consider a surgical procedure.

Who Is a Good Candidate for Contour TRL™?

Contour TRL™ fits patients who want a noticeable change and can plan around real recovery time. If you have deeper wrinkles, scarring, or significantly sun-damaged skin, and lighter lasers or peels haven’t given you the results you want, this treatment was made for you.

It isn’t the right first step for everyone. If you want a quick glow before an event next month, or you can’t take a week or two away from work and social plans, we’ll likely steer you toward HALO, BBL® HERO™, or a chemical peel first. Ablative lasers also carry a higher risk of pigment changes in deeper skin tones, so we’ll assess your skin type before we recommend a depth.

At your consultation, we’ll go over your skin, your history, your schedule, and your budget. Then we’ll build a plan around all four.

What Makes VITRA Aesthetics Clinic a Go-To Choice for Contour TRL™?

With a laser this powerful, the provider using it matters. Contour TRL™ can deliver a light refresh or a deep reset, and the depth and heat settings your provider chooses shape both your results and your recovery.

Our team brings more than 20 years of experience in aesthetics, with over 35,000 treatments completed and more than 800 Google reviews from patients across Long Island. We already treat patients with Sciton’s HALO, MOXI®, and BBL® HERO™, so Contour TRL™ joins a platform our providers know inside and out.

If a lighter treatment like HALO or BBL® HERO™ would get you where you want to go, we’ll tell you. If Contour TRL™ is the right call, we’ll set the depth around your skin type, your goals, and the downtime your schedule allows. Want to pair it with Botox® or filler? We’ll plan the timing so each treatment supports the next.

After your treatment, you’ll go home with a clear aftercare plan and the products to follow it. Our team is here to answer your questions while you heal. With four locations in Islip, Huntington, Smithtown, and Massapequa, your consultation and follow-up visits stay close to home.

What Is The Contour TRL™ Experience At VITRA Aesthetics?

Before Your Treatment

We’ll give you a prep plan at your consultation. Expect to pause retinoids and exfoliating products beforehand, stay out of the sun, and skip self-tanner. If you’ve ever had cold sores, tell us, since we may prescribe an antiviral before treatment. Some patients also start a skincare routine a few weeks ahead to prime the skin.

During Your Treatment

A session runs about 45 to 60 minutes, depending on the size of the area. We’ll cleanse your skin and give you eye shields to wear. For lighter treatments, a topical numbing cream keeps you comfortable. For deeper treatments, your provider may add a local anesthetic. Most patients feel heat and a prickling sensation as the scanner moves across the skin.

After Your Treatment

Right after treatment, your skin will look and feel like a strong sunburn, with redness and some swelling. Peeling and flaking start within the first day. Let the skin shed on its own. Picking or rubbing it off can lead to scarring or infection.

Most patients follow a timeline like this:

  • Days 1 to 7: Redness, swelling, and peeling. Wash with a gentle cleanser several times a day, and keep the occlusive ointment we recommend on your skin.
  • Weeks 1 to 2: Most patients return to work. You can wear makeup again once your skin has finished peeling and you’ve stopped using the ointment.
  • Weeks 2 to 12: Pinkness fades, and your skin looks smoother and more even.
  • Months 3 to 6: Your collagen keeps rebuilding, so firmness and texture continue to improve.

Sun protection is non-negotiable. Stay out of direct sun for two months after treatment, and wear sunscreen every day for at least three months to protect your new skin from pigment changes.

Contour TRL™ Side Effects and Who Shouldn't Get Treated

Redness, swelling, peeling, and a sunburn-like sensation are expected parts of recovery. Less common risks include infection, cold sore flare-ups, lasting pigment changes, and scarring, which is why following your aftercare plan matters as much as the treatment itself.

Contour TRL™ isn’t recommended for patients with any of the following, so share your full history at your consultation:

  • Pregnancy or breastfeeding
  • Isotretinoin (Accutane) use within the past 6 to 12 months
  • An active infection, cold sore, or open wound in the treatment area
  • A history of keloids or abnormal scarring
  • A fresh tan or recent heavy sun exposure
  • Conditions or medications that affect wound healing
  • A history of radiation to the treatment area

We’ll review your medical history in detail before treatment to confirm Contour TRL™ is safe for you.

Frequently Asked Questions About Contour TRL

Comfort depends on depth. Lighter treatments feel warm and prickly, and most patients do well with a topical numbing cream. For deeper treatments, your provider may add an injected anesthetic to remove the pain.

Most patients take one to two weeks off from work and social plans. Your skin will be red and peeling for the first several days, and some pinkness can linger for a few weeks after that. The deeper the treatment, the longer the recovery, and we’ll tell you what to expect before you book.

HALO is a fractional laser. It treats tiny columns of skin and leaves the surrounding tissue intact, which means less downtime and gradual results over one or two sessions. The Sciton Contour TRL™ resurfaces the full treatment area, so it goes further on deep wrinkles and scarring, with a longer recovery. If your concerns are mild to moderate, HALO may be enough. If you’ve already done lighter treatments and want a bigger change, Contour TRL™ is the stronger tool. We’ll help you pick at your consultation.

Most patients need one to three treatments. We’ll give you a clearer plan once we’ve seen your skin and talked through your goals.

You’ll see smoother, more even skin once the peeling finishes, usually around the one- to two-week mark. Your results keep improving for up to six months as your skin builds new collagen.

Yes. Contour TRL™ pairs well with BBL® HERO™ for redness and brown spots, and many patients keep up their Botox® or filler routine for movement and volume. We’ll map out the timing so each treatment supports the next.

Contour TRL™ costs more than a single round of lighter laser treatments, and it asks more of your schedule. What you get in return is a bigger change in fewer sessions, with results that can last for years when you protect your skin. For many patients, one deep treatment replaces several rounds of lighter ones.

The provider matters as much as the laser. Depth settings, technique, and aftercare all shape your result. Ask about your provider’s resurfacing experience at your consultation, and feel free to ask ours too.
